This investigational cell therapy consists of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) developed by the General Hospital of Chinese Armed Police Forces for the treatment of chronic spinal cord injury. The therapy utilizes MSCs harvested from the umbilical cord tissue of healthy, full-term newborns, which are then cultured to passages 6-8 before clinical use. Administered via CT-guided subarachnoid transplantation (lumbar puncture), these cells are intended to promote functional recovery in patients with thoracolumbar spinal cord injury sequelae. The therapeutic effect is believed to be mediated through multiple mechanisms, including the secretion of neurotrophic factors that support neural regeneration, the modulation of the local inflammatory environment, the regulation of cell apoptosis, and the promotion of axonal sprouting and remyelination.
