This investigational cell therapy, developed by Hebei Medical University, consists of allogeneic umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) for the treatment of ischemic cardiomyopathy. The therapy involves the intramyocardial implantation of these multipotent stromal cells, typically at a dose of 150 to 250 million cells. UC-MSCs are believed to function primarily through paracrine mechanisms, secreting various growth factors and cytokines that promote angiogenesis, reduce myocardial inflammation, and potentially facilitate the repair of damaged heart tissue. The therapy is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1 randomized study to determine its safety and preliminary efficacy in patients with heart muscle damage caused by reduced blood flow.
