Investigational allogeneic cell therapy consisting of mesenchymal stem cells derived from umbilical cord tissue (UC-MSCs). Developed by the Vinmec Research Institute of Stem Cell and Gene Technology, this therapy is specifically being evaluated for the treatment of liver cirrhosis in pediatric patients with biliary atresia who have previously undergone a Kasai operation. The cells are administered via hepatic artery infusion to directly target the liver. The mechanism of action involves the immunomodulatory, anti-fibrotic, and regenerative properties of the stem cells, which aim to reduce hepatic fibrosis, improve liver function (as measured by PELD scores), and potentially delay or eliminate the need for liver transplantation.
