Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This investigational cell therapy consists of clinical-grade umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) administered as a regenerative and immunomodulatory treatment for pneumoconiosis. Developed under the leadership of Jianwu Dai, the therapy is typically evaluated in combination with large-volume whole lung lavage (WLL). UC-MSCs are multipotent stromal cells that possess significant anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic properties. In the context of pneumoconiosis, WLL is first performed to physically remove inhaled dust and inflammatory debris from the lungs, followed by the transplantation of UC-MSCs to mitigate pulmonary fibrosis, modulate the immune response, and promote tissue repair. The therapy aims to slow or reverse the progression of lung damage caused by chronic dust inhalation, such as silicosis.
