Overview
Umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) are an allogeneic cell therapy being developed by RSUP Persahabatan in collaboration with PT Prostem for the treatment of Group E Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Administered intravenously as an adjuvant to standard triple inhalation therapy (LABA, LAMA, and ICS), these stem cells are intended to modulate the inflammatory response and potentially facilitate lung tissue repair. The therapy is currently being evaluated in a Phase 2 clinical trial to assess its safety and efficacy in improving pulmonary function, quality of life, and exercise capacity (measured by the 6-minute walk test) in patients with advanced COPD.
