Overview

This investigational cell therapy consists of allogeneic mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from human umbilical cord tissue. Developed by The First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University, the therapy is being evaluated for the treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and lupus nephritis (LN). The mechanism of action involves systemic immunomodulation, where the MSCs suppress overactive immune responses and promote tissue repair through the secretion of various anti-inflammatory cytokines and growth factors. It is administered via intravenous infusion, specifically targeting patients who are refractory to standard immunosuppressive treatments such as steroids and conventional immunosuppressants.
