Overview

Umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) are multipotent stromal cells derived from the Wharton's jelly of the human umbilical cord. These cells possess significant immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and pro-regenerative properties, making them a versatile candidate for various degenerative and inflammatory conditions. Zhejiang Gene Stem Cell Biotech is developing UC-MSC therapies for a range of indications, including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, refractory epilepsy, and severe chronic radiation enteritis. Notably, they are also investigating a combination of UC-MSCs with a collagen scaffold for the treatment of thin endometrium and reproductive organ dysfunction. These programs are currently categorized as clinical research projects approved by the Chinese National Health Commission and the Ministry of Science and Technology, often conducted in collaboration with clinical centers such as Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital.
