Overview

This appears to be a combination of two separate compounds: urea and glycerol. Urea is used topically for debridement and promotion of normal healing of hyperkeratotic surface lesions, particularly for conditions such as dry skin, dermatitis, psoriasis, xerosis, ichthyosis, eczema, and nail disorders. Glycerol (also known as glycerin) is used in moisturizing creams for the treatment of dry, scaly skin. A study comparing glycerin-containing cream with urea/sodium chloride cream showed that glycerin cream had fewer adverse skin reactions while maintaining equal effectiveness in treating atopic dry skin.
