Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Urea + hydrocortisone is a fixed-dose topical combination of urea, an emollient and keratolytic, and hydrocortisone, a synthetic glucocorticoid steroid. Urea hydrates, softens, and removes scaly or thickened skin, while hydrocortisone acts as an anti-inflammatory, anti-pruritic, and immunosuppressant by binding glucocorticoid receptors and regulating transcription of anti-inflammatory proteins. The combination is used to treat symptoms of skin conditions including itching, redness, dryness, scaling, and inflammation, especially in corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses such as eczema, dermatitis, and allergic reactions[4][5][6].
