DexULac is a topical nail lacquer developed by Laboratorio Reig Jofre S.A. for the treatment of onychomycosis (nail fungus) and nail dystrophy. It is a combination product containing urea, lactic acid, and dexpanthenol. The mechanism of action is primarily physical and chemical: urea acts as a keratolytic agent to soften the infected nail plate, facilitating the penetration of other components; lactic acid lowers the pH of the nail environment, creating an acidic condition that is hostile to fungal growth; and dexpanthenol (provitamin B5) promotes nail hydration and regeneration. This multi-modal approach helps to improve the appearance of the nail while addressing the underlying fungal infection. In many European markets, DexULac is classified and marketed as a medical device (Class IIa) rather than a pharmacological drug, as its primary mode of action is not pharmacological, immunological, or metabolic.
