Overview
Urea + Vitamin E is a topical dermatological combination therapy primarily indicated for the treatment of hyperkeratotic and severely dry skin conditions, including psoriasis, eczema, ichthyosis, and keratosis pilaris. Urea acts as a potent humectant and keratolytic agent; it increases the water-binding capacity of the stratum corneum and, at therapeutic concentrations, promotes the shedding of dead skin cells by disrupting hydrogen bonds in keratin. Vitamin E (typically included as alpha-tocopheryl acetate) serves as a lipid-soluble antioxidant that protects skin cell membranes from oxidative damage caused by free radicals and environmental stressors. Together, these ingredients work synergistically to restore the skin's moisture barrier, soften rough or thickened skin, and improve overall skin texture and elasticity.
