URLC10 + VEGFR1 + VEGFR2 peptide vaccine is a multi-antigen cancer immunotherapy developed by the University of Tokyo for the treatment of advanced or refractory gastric cancer. The vaccine combines epitope peptides derived from the tumor-associated antigen URLC10 (also known as Cell Division Cycle Associated 1 or CDCA1) with peptides targeting Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 1 (VEGFR1) and Receptor 2 (VEGFR2). URLC10 is highly expressed in gastric cancer cells, while VEGFR1 and VEGFR2 are expressed on tumor-associated endothelial cells and are essential for angiogenesis. Administered subcutaneously with an adjuvant such as Montanide ISA 51 or incomplete Freund's adjuvant, the vaccine aims to stimulate a cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response to destroy both the cancer cells and the supporting tumor vasculature. It has been evaluated in Phase I and Phase II clinical trials, frequently in combination with S-1 chemotherapy.
