Overview

URLC10 is a peptide-based cancer vaccine developed by the Human Genome Center at the University of Tokyo for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The vaccine targets the URLC10 protein, also known as lymphocyte antigen 6 complex locus K (LY6K), which is a cancer-testis antigen overexpressed in various cancers, including NSCLC, but with restricted expression in normal tissues. The therapeutic agent consists of specific HLA-restricted epitope peptides, such as URLC10-177 (RYCNLEGPPI), designed to elicit a cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) response against tumor cells. In clinical development, URLC10 has been evaluated primarily in Phase I/II trials as part of multi-peptide vaccine cocktails (e.g., combined with TTK and KOC1 or VEGFR1 and VEGFR2) emulsified with the adjuvant Montanide ISA-51 and administered via subcutaneous injection to patients with refractory or advanced NSCLC.
