Drug intelligence / Profile preview
V-01 + V-01-B5 is a bivalent recombinant protein subunit vaccine developed by Livzon Pharmaceutical Group for the prevention of COVID-19. The vaccine is composed of two fusion protein components: V-01, which targets the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the ancestral SARS-CoV-2 strain, and V-01-B5, which targets the RBD of the Omicron BA.5 variant. A unique feature of this platform is the fusion of the RBD antigen to a human interferon-alpha (IFN-α) molecular adjuvant and an Fc fragment, designed to enhance antigen presentation and stimulate a robust immune response without the requirement for traditional external adjuvants. The bivalent formulation was developed to provide broader neutralizing antibody protection against emerging Omicron sub-lineages and has been primarily evaluated as a heterologous booster in clinical trials.
