Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vacc-C5 + Alhydrogel is a combination of a therapeutic HIV vaccine candidate (Vacc-C5) and an adjuvant (Alhydrogel). Vacc-C5 is a synthetic peptide vaccine designed to target the C5 domain of the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein gp120 and the external domain of gp41. The goal is to modulate immune hyperactivation in people living with HIV by inducing specific immune responses against these conserved regions. Alhydrogel, which consists of aluminum hydroxide gel, acts as an adjuvant to enhance the immunogenicity of Vacc-C5 by promoting antigen uptake and stimulating Th2-type immune responses. This combination has been evaluated in early-phase clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity in HIV-infected individuals[1][3][4].
