Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Alluna Nacht is a fixed-combination phytotherapeutic product containing dry extracts of *Valeriana officinalis* (valerian) root and *Humulus lupulus* (hops), specifically the proprietary extract combination Ze 91019. Developed by Max Zeller Söhne AG, it is indicated for the treatment of nonorganic insomnia and nonorganic disorders of the sleep-wake schedule. The drug operates through a dual mechanism of action: the valerian component exerts an adenosine-like effect by acting on adenosine A1 receptors to increase sleep pressure, while the hops component acts similarly to melatonin to help regulate the circadian rhythm. It has been evaluated in Phase III clinical trials and is marketed under various names, including ReDormin and Alluna.
