Overview

This is a combination drug consisting of valproate (valproic acid), cytidine, and creatine. Valproate is an anticonvulsant and mood stabilizer commonly used in the treatment of epilepsy, bipolar disorder, and migraine prophylaxis. Its mechanisms include increasing GABAergic activity, inhibiting myo-inositol-1-phosphate synthetase (leading to inositol depletion), downregulating protein kinase C isoforms, and inhibiting brain microsomal long-chain fatty acyl-CoA synthetase. Cytidine is a nucleoside involved in cellular metabolism and neurochemical processes; it has been investigated for its potential role in mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder. Creatine is a naturally occurring compound important for energy storage in muscle and brain tissue; it has been studied as an adjunctive therapy for mood disorders due to its effects on cellular energy metabolism. This specific combination has been investigated experimentally for the treatment of bipolar depression[1].
