valsartan + perindopril

Valsartan + perindopril is a combination of two antihypertensive agents used together to treat high blood pressure, particularly in patients with essential hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy. Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Perindopril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that prevents the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, also resulting in vasodilation and decreased blood pressure. The combination has been shown to provide greater benefits than either drug alone for regression of left ventricular hypertrophy, reduction in brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), and improvement in arterial stiffness as measured by pulse wave velocity[1]. Both drugs act on the renin-angiotensin system but at different points, providing complementary mechanisms for controlling hypertension.
