Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vancoplus is a fixed-dose combination antibiotic developed by Venus Remedies, utilizing their proprietary Antibiotic Adjuvant Entity (AAE) technology. It is composed of vancomycin, ceftriaxone, and sulbactam. This combination is specifically engineered to address multi-drug resistant (MDR) infections, including those caused by Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Vancomycin acts by binding to the D-Ala-D-Ala terminus of nascent peptidoglycan chains, thereby inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Ceftriaxone, a third-generation cephalosporin, further disrupts cell wall assembly by inhibiting penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). Sulbactam serves as a beta-lactamase inhibitor, protecting ceftriaxone from enzymatic degradation and extending the spectrum of activity against resistant Gram-negative and Gram-positive pathogens. Vancoplus is approved for the treatment of various severe infections, including skin and soft tissue infections, meningitis, bone and joint infections, and lower respiratory tract infections.
