Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The varicella vaccine manufactured by Changchun Keygen Biological Products is a live attenuated vaccine derived from the Oka strain of the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). It is produced using a seed lot system based on the Biken seed virus, similar to other international varicella vaccines. The vaccine is indicated for the prevention of chickenpox (varicella) and is typically administered to children. It is formulated as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder for reconstitution. Clinical studies, including Phase 4 trials, have demonstrated high efficacy (over 90%) and a safety profile consistent with established varicella vaccines. The product is licensed in China and exported to international markets such as South Korea and India.
