Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination of two vaccines—varicella vaccine and *Haemophilus influenzae* type b (Hib) conjugate vaccine. The varicella vaccine is a live attenuated virus vaccine that induces immunity against the varicella-zoster virus, preventing chickenpox. The Hib conjugate vaccine contains purified polysaccharide from the capsule of *Haemophilus influenzae* type b bacteria, chemically linked (conjugated) to a carrier protein such as tetanus toxoid or meningococcal protein, which enhances immunogenicity in infants and young children. Both vaccines stimulate the immune system to produce protective antibodies against their respective pathogens. These vaccines are primarily indicated for routine immunization in children to prevent serious diseases caused by these organisms, including chickenpox and invasive Hib infections such as meningitis, epiglottitis, pneumonia, and septic arthritis[1][3][5].
