Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The varicella vaccine (live attenuated) is a viral vaccine developed and marketed by Shenzhen Mellow Hope Pharmaceutical Industrial Co., Ltd. for the prevention of chickenpox (varicella) in individuals aged 12 months and older. It utilizes the WHO-recommended Oka strain of the varicella-zoster virus, which is propagated in the MRC-5 human diploid cell line. The vaccine is presented as a lyophilized powder for subcutaneous injection. Upon administration, the live attenuated virus replicates minimally to induce a robust and protective immune response, including both neutralizing antibodies and cell-mediated immunity against the varicella-zoster virus. It is currently an approved product in China.
