Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This recombinant protein vaccine is being developed by Shanghai Zerun Biological for the prevention of varicella (chickenpox) and herpes zoster (shingles). The vaccine is based on recombinant varicella-zoster virus (VZV) antigens expressed using a Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cell expression system. It works by inducing protective immune responses against VZV through the administration of these recombinant antigens. Currently in Phase 1 clinical development, the vaccine leverages Shanghai Zerun's platforms for recombinant protein expression and innovative adjuvant research.
