Overview

Vaxelis is a hexavalent vaccine (DTaP-IPV-Hib-HepB) developed by MCM Vaccines B.V., a joint venture between Merck and Sanofi. This specific entry refers to the co-administration or combination of Vaxelis with a meningococcal serogroup C (MenC) conjugate vaccine. Vaxelis contains diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, acellular pertussis antigens (pertussis toxin, filamentous hemagglutinin, pertactin, and fimbriae types 2 and 3), inactivated poliovirus (types 1, 2, and 3), Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate (using a meningococcal protein carrier), and recombinant hepatitis B surface antigen. The addition of a MenC conjugate vaccine (such as MCC-TT or MCC-CRM) provides protection against Neisseria meningitidis serogroup C. This combination regimen is used for active immunization in infants and toddlers to prevent seven major infectious diseases.
