Overview

VE-5773 is an investigational small molecule drug candidate developed by Verseon International for the treatment of fatty liver diseases, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Discovered using Verseon's proprietary atom-modeling drug discovery platform, VE-5773 is designed to act as an inhibitor of diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase 2 (DGAT2). DGAT2 is a key enzyme that catalyzes the final step in the synthesis of triglycerides in the liver. By inhibiting this enzyme, VE-5773 aims to reduce hepatic fat accumulation (steatosis), which is a primary driver of liver inflammation and subsequent fibrosis in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). The candidate is part of a program focused on developing potent, orally bioavailable treatments for metabolic disorders.
