Overview

This triple combination therapy is being developed for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The regimen consists of three distinct agents: vebicorvir, a first-generation HBV capsid assembly inhibitor (CAI); AB-729, a GalNAc-conjugated small interfering RNA (siRNA) that targets HBV RNA to reduce viral protein production, including HBsAg; and a nucleoside/nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI), which is the standard-of-care treatment for inhibiting HBV DNA replication. By simultaneously targeting multiple stages of the HBV lifecycle—capsid assembly, viral antigen production, and reverse transcription—the combination aims to achieve a functional cure for chronic HBV. Grand Theravac Life Science Nanjing is the primary developer of this specific combination regimen.
