Overview

The vegfr1 peptide vaccine + vegfr2 peptide vaccine is an investigational immunotherapy combination developed by Fukushima Medical University for the treatment of advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This combination vaccine consists of HLA-A*2402-restricted epitope peptides derived from Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 1 (VEGFR1) and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 2 (VEGFR2). The therapeutic strategy involves inducing a cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) response specifically targeting the tumor vasculature, where these receptors are highly expressed. By mounting an immune attack against the endothelial cells of the tumor's blood supply, the vaccine aims to inhibit angiogenesis and suppress tumor progression in patients with unresectable, recurrent, or metastatic HCC.
