Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Verrutop is a topical liquid medical device developed by ISDIN S.A. for the treatment of various types of warts, including cutaneous, palmoplantar, periungual, and genital warts (condylomas). It is formulated with the proprietary 'Nitrizinc Complex,' which consists of a mixture of organic acids (acetic, lactic, and oxalic), an inorganic acid (nitric acid), and copper and zinc sulfate salts. Unlike traditional pharmacological agents, Verrutop works through a chemical oxidation-reduction mechanism that denatures and breaks down the proteins in wart tissue, leading to the mummification and subsequent shedding of the lesion. It is typically applied under medical supervision using a precision capillary applicator.
