VG2025 is an investigational oncolytic herpes simplex virus type 1 (oHSV-1) therapy developed by Virogin Biotech in collaboration with M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Engineered using Virogin's Synerlytic platform, VG2025 is designed to selectively replicate within and lyse tumor cells while simultaneously expressing therapeutic payloads, including Interleukin-12 (IL-12) and a PD-L1 blocking antibody, to stimulate a robust anti-tumor immune response. The therapy is specifically being evaluated for the treatment of advanced solid tumors with peritoneal carcinomatosis, where it is administered via intraperitoneal injection to target malignant cells within the abdominal cavity directly. This approach aims to overcome the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment and induce both local and systemic (abscopal) anti-cancer effects.
