Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VH4524184 + metformin is a combination of VH4524184 (VH184), a third-generation investigational integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI) in development for HIV-1 treatment, and metformin, an established oral biguanide used to treat type 2 diabetes. VH4524184 is being developed as a long-acting antiretroviral agent with activity against INSTI-resistant HIV-1, while metformin acts primarily by decreasing hepatic glucose production and increasing insulin sensitivity. There is currently no evidence this combination is an approved or clinically tested therapy; search data do not indicate studies of VH4524184 + metformin together.
