Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Vi polysaccharide vaccine produced by PT Bio Farma is a monovalent subunit vaccine indicated for active immunization against typhoid fever caused by Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi. It consists of purified Vi capsular polysaccharide, a surface antigen of the bacterium that induces a T-cell independent immune response, leading to the production of protective IgG antibodies. This vaccine is typically administered as a single intramuscular injection and is approved for use in adults and children aged 2 years and older. In clinical research, PT Bio Farma has utilized this established vaccine as a reference comparator in trials evaluating the safety and immunogenicity of their next-generation Vi-DT typhoid conjugate vaccine (Bio-TCV).
