Overview

Vinblastine and vincristine are vinca alkaloids isolated from the Madagascar periwinkle (Catharanthus roseus). Both drugs act as antimicrotubule agents that block mitosis by binding to tubulin, preventing microtubule assembly and inducing depolymerization of formed tubules. They are used in various chemotherapy regimens for different types of cancer.
