Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vincristine + dexamethasone is a combination regimen commonly used in the treatment of hematologic malignancies, particularly acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in children and as part of induction regimens for multiple myeloma. Vincristine is a vinca alkaloid antineoplastic agent that binds to tubulin, inhibiting microtubule formation and arresting cell division at metaphase, leading to apoptosis. Dexamethasone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties; it induces apoptosis in certain cancer cells and reduces inflammation. The combination exploits the cytotoxic effects of vincristine on rapidly dividing cells with the lympholytic and anti-inflammatory actions of dexamethasone[1][2][5].
