Vincristine + doxorubicin + cyclophosphamide (often abbreviated as VDC) is a combination chemotherapy regimen composed of three cytotoxic agents. Vincristine is a vinca alkaloid that inhibits microtubule formation, thereby arresting cell division in metaphase. Doxorubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, leading to DNA strand breaks and apoptosis. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that crosslinks DNA, preventing cell replication and inducing cell death. This combination regimen is primarily used in the treatment of various cancers, including Ewing sarcoma and other pediatric sarcomas, as well as being part of regimens for lymphomas and some solid tumors[7][4]. The drugs are administered intravenously in cycles, often alternating with other agents such as ifosfamide and etoposide depending on the specific protocol.
