vincristine + etoposide + cyclophosphamide + methotrexate

VEC + methotrexate is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of the microtubule inhibitor vincristine, the topoisomerase II inhibitor etoposide, the alkylating agent cyclophosphamide, and the folate antimetabolite methotrexate. This regimen is primarily utilized in pediatric oncology, specifically for the treatment of ependymoma. In clinical trials such as the SIOP Ependymoma II study, this combination is evaluated for its efficacy in patients with residual disease after surgery, often following or in conjunction with radiotherapy. The components work synergistically to disrupt cell division, induce DNA damage, and inhibit nucleotide synthesis in rapidly dividing malignant cells.
