Vinorelbine + cisplatin + radiotherapy is a combination regimen used primarily as first-line treatment for locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Vinorelbine is a semi-synthetic vinca alkaloid that inhibits microtubule assembly, thereby disrupting mitosis and inducing apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Cisplatin is a platinum-based chemotherapeutic agent that forms DNA crosslinks, leading to apoptosis of cancer cells. Radiotherapy uses ionizing radiation to damage the DNA of tumor cells, further enhancing cytotoxicity when combined with these agents.
