Overview

**Description** The combination of vinorelbine, ifosfamide, and mesna is a chemotherapy regimen used primarily in the treatment of advanced or recurrent non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Vinorelbine is a vinca alkaloid that inhibits microtubule formation during mitosis, leading to cell cycle arrest. Ifosfamide is an alkylating agent that forms DNA crosslinks after metabolic activation in the liver, resulting in inhibition of DNA synthesis and function. Mesna is not an antineoplastic agent but is co-administered with ifosfamide to prevent hemorrhagic cystitis by binding to acrolein, a toxic metabolite of ifosfamide[6][9][10]. This combination has shown efficacy in clinical trials for NSCLC, with response rates around 33% and manageable toxicity profiles when administered with appropriate supportive care[3][4]. The regimen typically involves intravenous administration over several days per cycle.
