Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Visucomplex Plus + anti-VEGF drug refers to the adjunctive use of the dietary supplement Visucomplex Plus alongside standard-of-care intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) therapy. Visucomplex Plus is a nutraceutical formulation developed by Visufarma that contains Coenzyme Q10 (specifically the ActiQ10 formulation) and Vitamin E, designed to provide antioxidant support and improve mitochondrial function in retinal cells. The combination is primarily investigated for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD) and other retinal vascular diseases. The rationale for this combination is that while anti-VEGF agents (such as ranibizumab, aflibercept, or bevacizumab) reduce vascular leakage and pathological angiogenesis by inhibiting VEGF-A, the addition of antioxidants may mitigate oxidative stress and neurodegeneration, potentially improving functional outcomes and reducing the treatment burden of injections.
