The combination of **visugromab** (formerly CTL-002), a humanized monoclonal antibody that neutralizes Growth Differentiation Factor-15 (GDF-15), and **nivolumab**, a monoclonal antibody targeting the immune checkpoint receptor programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1), is being investigated as an immunotherapy approach for advanced solid tumors that are relapsed on or refractory to prior anti-PD-1/PD-L1 therapies. Visugromab is designed to overcome tumor-mediated immunosuppression by inhibiting GDF-15, which prevents immune cell infiltration and impairs immune synapse formation in the tumor microenvironment, while nivolumab blocks PD-1 to reactivate T-cell mediated anti-tumor responses. In clinical studies, this combination has shown durable objective anti-tumor activity in heavily pretreated patient populations, including those with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), urothelial carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, and other advanced solid tumors[1][5][7][9].
