Vitamin d3 + dapagliflozin is a combination therapy being investigated for the treatment of hypertension and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). This combination consists of dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor, and vitamin D3 (colecalciferol), a secosteroid that acts as a vitamin D receptor agonist. The therapy is being studied by University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) to evaluate its synergistic effects on cardio-metabolic markers, heart rate variability, and the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) in obese patients with CPAP-naive OSA. Dapagliflozin promotes urinary glucose excretion and diuresis, while vitamin D3 supplementation is intended to address deficiencies common in OSA patients and potentially modulate blood pressure and metabolic health.
