Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Vitamin D3 + Omega 3 is a combination dietary supplement containing cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) and omega-3 fatty acids (typically eicosapentaenoic acid [EPA] and docosahexaenoic acid [DHA]). Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble secosteroid that plays a critical role in calcium absorption, bone mineralization, and immune system modulation. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential polyunsaturated fatty acids that support cardiovascular health, reduce serum triglycerides, and exert anti-inflammatory effects. Because vitamin D3 is fat-soluble, co-formulating or co-administering it with the lipid-rich vehicle of omega-3 fatty acids enhances its absorption and bioavailability in the gastrointestinal tract. This combination is widely used as a nutritional supplement to support bone, cardiovascular, and immune health.
