Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination dietary supplement containing vitamin E (a fat-soluble antioxidant) and milk thistle extract (primarily standardized to contain silymarin, a flavonolignan complex with antioxidant properties). Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant by protecting cell membranes from oxidative damage. Milk thistle extract, particularly its active component silymarin, is believed to protect liver cells from toxins and oxidative stress through free radical scavenging and enhancement of cellular glutathione levels. The combination has been studied for its potential benefits in reducing oxidative stress markers (such as malondialdehyde), increasing red blood cell glutathione peroxidase activity, and improving hemoglobin levels in patients with end-stage renal disease. Both components are primarily used for their antioxidant effects; milk thistle is also commonly used for liver support[2][1][3].
