Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VLM+VIT vaccine is a DNA-based immunotherapy being developed by Virothera Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of Herpes Simplex Virus type 2 (HSV-2). The vaccine utilizes a dual-component system consisting of Virus-Like Membranes (VLM) and Virokine Immune Therapeutic (VIT) technology. This approach is designed to target chemokine receptors on T regulatory (Treg) cells, aiming to modulate the local immune environment and counteract the immunosuppressive mechanisms employed by the virus. Currently in the IND-enabling phase, the therapy represents a nucleic acid-based strategy to provide therapeutic or prophylactic benefit against chronic HSV-2 infection.
