Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VMX-C001 + edoxaban is a combination of two agents: VMX-C001, a recombinant analog of human factor X engineered to be insensitive to factor Xa (FXa) inhibitors, and edoxaban, an oral direct FXa inhibitor anticoagulant. VMX-C001 is being developed primarily as a reversal agent to rapidly restore coagulation in patients who have received FXa-DOACs such as edoxaban and are experiencing severe bleeding or require urgent surgery. By bypassing the inhibitory effect of edoxaban on FXa, VMX-C001 enables the restoration of thrombin generation and normal coagulation parameters. Edoxaban, in this context, is used to model FXa inhibitor exposure; the combination is studied to simulate clinical scenarios where reversal of anticoagulation is needed. The combination is under clinical investigation and not yet approved for clinical use[1][2][3][4][5].
