Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Von Willebrand factor + coagulation factor VIII concentrate is a high-purity, double virus-inactivated, plasma-derived biologic containing human von Willebrand factor (VWF) and coagulation factor VIII (FVIII) in a physiological 1:1 ratio. Developed primarily by Octapharma (under the brand name Wilate), it is indicated for the treatment of hereditary and acquired von Willebrand disease (VWD) across all types (Type 1, 2, and 3) as well as hemophilia A. The therapy works by temporarily replacing the missing or dysfunctional clotting factors, thereby restoring normal platelet adhesion to damaged vascular endothelium and stabilizing the intrinsic coagulation cascade to control or prevent bleeding episodes.
