Overview
TAK-438ASA is a fixed-dose combination drug consisting of vonoprazan (also known as TAK-438) and aspirin. Vonoprazan is a novel potassium-competitive acid blocker (P-CAB) that inhibits gastric H+,K+-ATPase (the proton pump), thereby suppressing gastric acid secretion. Aspirin is an antiplatelet agent commonly used for cardiovascular protection. The combination aims to provide the gastroprotective effects of vonoprazan alongside the antithrombotic benefits of aspirin, potentially reducing the risk of gastrointestinal ulcers associated with long-term aspirin use.
