Overview

VRC-HIVDNA009-00-VP + VRC-ADJDNA004-IL2-VP is a combination of an investigational multiclade HIV-1 DNA vaccine (VRC-HIVDNA009-00-VP) and a plasmid cytokine adjuvant encoding interleukin 2 fused to immunoglobulin (VRC-ADJDNA004-IL2-VP). The DNA vaccine consists of four plasmids encoding the HIV subtype B Gag–Pol–Nef fusion protein and modified envelope (Env) constructs from subtypes A, B, and C. The adjuvant component is designed to enhance immune responses by providing IL‑2 as an immunostimulatory signal. This combination aims to induce both humoral and cellular immune responses against multiple HIV clades for prevention or therapeutic intervention in HIV infection. Clinical studies have shown that the DNA vaccine is safe but only modestly immunogenic in humans[4][5][8].
