Overview

VRT106 + chemotherapy is an experimental combination therapy being evaluated for the treatment of resectable pancreatic cancer. VRT106 is a recombinant oncolytic herpes simplex virus type 1 (oHSV-1) designed to selectively infect and replicate within tumor cells, leading to direct cell lysis and the subsequent release of tumor-associated antigens. This process is intended to stimulate a systemic anti-tumor immune response. When combined with standard-of-care chemotherapy, the regimen aims to provide synergistic cytotoxic effects, potentially reducing tumor volume and improving surgical outcomes or survival in patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma. The combination is currently under investigation in clinical trials sponsored by Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital.
