Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**VRVg-2 + human rabies immunoglobulins** is a combination regimen used for rabies post-exposure prophylaxis, consisting of VRVg-2, a purified, inactivated rabies vaccine prepared on Vero cell line (serum-free), and human rabies immunoglobulins (HRIG). VRVg-2 induces active immunity by introducing inactivated rabies virus antigens, stimulating the production of rabies virus neutralizing antibodies. HRIG provides immediate passive immunization by supplying preformed antibodies that can neutralize the virus before the body has mounted its own immune response. This combined approach is standard in rabies post-exposure prophylaxis, where vaccine administration is accompanied by HRIG to bridge the immunity gap until a sufficient vaccine-derived immune response develops[3].
