VTP-1000 (Barinthus Biotherapeutics)

VTP-1000 is an investigational injectable, antigen-specific tolerance immunotherapy being developed by Barinthus Biotherapeutics for celiac disease. The SNAP-TI nanoparticle product co-delivers multiple gluten-derived peptide antigens from wheat, barley, and rye proteins with rapamycin, an mTOR inhibitor, to promote gluten-specific immune tolerance. It is intended to increase tolerogenic regulatory T-cell responses and reduce pathogenic gluten-reactive effector T-cell activity. VTP-1000 is being evaluated in the randomized, placebo-controlled Phase 1 AVALON trial, including single-ascending-dose and multiple-ascending-dose cohorts with a controlled gluten challenge.
